The song *Eternity* by La Ley, with its duration of 4 minutes and 11 seconds, is from the album Uno, released in February 2000. This record marked a turning point for the Chilean band, being the first recorded after the departure of two of its founding members, Rodrigo Aboitiz and Luciano Rojas. The album's sound took a turn, moving away from the darker, electro-industrial tinged atmospheres of previous works like Vértigo, or the grunge and gothic influenced style of Invisible. Instead, Uno adopted a more direct approach within Alternative Rock, setting aside more experimental ambient textures. For the recording of the bass lines, the band, which at the time operated as a trio, had the collaboration of Archie Frugone.

The career of La Ley, originally formed by Andrés Bobe and Rodrigo Aboitiz along with Mauricio Clavería, Beto Cuevas, and Luciano Rojas, was marked by constant evolution. After a first album that did not have the expected impact, Doble Opuesto (1990) positioned them in the music scene of Chile, Argentina, and Mexico with singles like "Desiertos" and "Tejedores de Ilusión". The departure of Andrés Bobe in 1994 led to the incorporation of Pedro Frugone on guitar and international consolidation with Invisible (1995), an album that included hits like "Día Cero". Before the recording of Vértigo, Rodrigo Aboitiz left the group, and later, Luciano Rojas also departed to form a new project. Subsequent albums, such as Uno (2000) and Libertad (2003), showed a more rocking and less experimental facet, consolidating La Ley as a prominent figure in Latin America and earning accolades such as Grammy and Latin Grammy awards. The band also participated in an MTV Unplugged in 2001.
