The story behind

Mary MacGregor released a song called This Girl (Has Turned Into a Woman) that lasts three minutes and thirty seconds. It was part of her first album, Torn Between Two Lovers, released in 1976. The album charted at number 17 on the Billboard 200. Three singles were released from that album, all of which reached the Country and Hot 100 charts. The lead single was a hit, reaching the top of pop and adult contemporary. A critic, Robert Christgau, included it in his guide to seventies records and gave it a "C" rating, saying it was significant that Peter Yarrow's first commercial success of the year was a song that sounds like Olivia Newton-John, although the artist didn't hide from admitting she got into trouble.
