The story behind
Tema de Piluso, according to DoReSol
When Fito Páez released the album Circo Beat in 1994, he included a track titled Tema de Piluso. This song, which lasts 4:13, was created as a tribute to the late comedian Alberto Olmedo, who was from Rosario. The album, produced by Phil Manzanera—a guitarist known for his work with Roxy Music and later with Pink Floyd—received significant acclaim.
Circo Beat became the second best-selling album in Fito Páez's career and, in 1995, was the third best-selling album in Argentina, reaching 350,000 copies. Although it did not match the massive success of his previous album, El amor después del amor, Tema de Piluso and another single, Mariposa tecknicolor, were frequently played on the radio, helping to promote the work. The music of this track bears Fito Páez's signature style, as he had already been consolidating his international presence since the early 1990s with works that surpassed one million copies sold.
