The story behind
Step Off, according to DoReSol
When approaching Step Off, we encounter a piece that emerges from a moment of sonic exploration for Molotov. This track is part of Apocalypshit, their second studio album, which was released on September 14, 1999, under the Universal Music Group label. Unlike their previous album, the production of this record was handled by Mario Caldato Jr., who already had experience working with the Beastie Boys on their album Hello Nasty. The musical proposal in Apocalypshit expands, covering everything from alternative metal and heavy metal to Spanish-language rock, suggesting an intention to diversify their sonic palette.
The release of Apocalypshit, and consequently Step Off, generated an immediate impact on the charts. Shortly after its launch, the album reached position 32 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart. Additionally, it entered the music rankings in Spain, achieving a notable placement one week after its market debut. The duration of Step Off is 3 minutes and 23 seconds, a runtime that allows the band’s characteristic energy to shine through. In the production and mixing of this work, Mario Caldato Jr. played a key role, contributing his vision to Molotov’s sound.
