The story behind

Soneto de separação, according to DoReSol

The recording of Soneto de Separação took place over an intense period, between February 22 and March 9, 1974, at the MGM Studios in Los Angeles, California. This project was conceived as a special gift for Elis Regina, celebrating a decade of her relationship with Philips. The opportunity to collaborate with Antonio Carlos Jobim, a towering figure in Brazilian music, materialized in this album. The arrangements, handled by César Camargo Mariano, who was Elis's husband at the time, brought a distinctive freshness to the bossa nova genre by incorporating electric instruments, something uncommon until then.

Elis Regina Carvalho Costa, born in Porto Alegre on March 17, 1945, became one of the most representative voices of MPB. Her legacy, despite her early passing in São Paulo on January 19, 1982, at the age of 36, continues to resonate. On this album, Elis delves into classics of the genre with a restrained and delicate interpretation. The duration of Soneto de Separação is 2 minutes and 25 seconds.
