The story behind
The track *So Cold in Ireland* by The Cranberries, with its 4:45 duration, adds to the sonic palette of the album No Need to Argue. This work, released in October 1994, marked a turning point for the Irish band. While Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?, their debut, explored a lighter sound, No Need to Argue delved into darker and rawer territories. This evolution is perceived in the way the band decided to incorporate guitars with more distortion and higher volume in several of their compositions, seeking a more powerful sound. The recording credits for this piece, as for the rest of the album, fall to Julie Gardner and Stephen Street, who acted as engineers and producers.
The album No Need to Argue became The Cranberries' most successful, reaching sales of over 17 million copies worldwide by 2014. Within this record, one of the band's most recognized songs, "Zombie," is found. The lineup of The Cranberries, originally from Limerick, Ireland, and formed in 1989, consists of Dolores O'Riordan on vocals, Noel Hogan on guitar, Mike Hogan on bass, and Fergal Lawler on drums. Their style, although often associated with alternative rock, fuses elements of indie pop, post-punk, Irish folk, and pop rock.
