Siete crisantemos

The song Siete crisantemos, with its 5 minutes and 6 seconds of duration, emerges from a particular moment in the career of Joaquín Sabina. Released in 1994 as part of the album Esta boca es mía, this work was conceived during a period of personal and professional maturity for the singer-songwriter. While the album did not achieve the same commercial resonance as its predecessor, Física y química, it did achieve good sales and generated songs that received positive comments. The challenge for Sabina was to maintain or surpass the level of his previous work, and to do so, as was customary, he relied on the collaboration of his usual collaborators, Pancho Varona and Antonio García de Diego, who were responsible for most of the arrangements.

Joaquín Ramón Martínez Sabina, born in Úbeda, Jaén, in 1949, is a prominent figure in Spanish-language music, known for both his singer-songwriter and poet facets. Throughout his career, he has released fourteen studio albums, four live albums, and three compilations, in addition to participating in duets and collaborations with other artists. His compositional skill extends to creating songs for performers such as Ana Belén or Miguel Ríos. Among his live performances are significant recordings like La mandrágora (1981), alongside Javier Krahe and Alberto Pérez, and Joaquín Sabina y Viceversa en directo (1986) with the band Viceversa. In 2001, a mild stroke marked a turning point in his life, leading him into a period of reflection and depression, after which he returned with Dímelo en la calle (2002) and later Alivio de luto (2005). His latest solo album, Vinagre y rosas, released in 2009, received excellent commercial reception.
