The story behind

The song Shadow on the Sun, although not one of the main singles from Audioslave's debut album, found a prominent place by being part of the soundtrack for the film Collateral in 2004, starring Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx. This track, with a duration of 5:43, is the seventh piece on the self-titled album released in November 2002.

This American supergroup was formed in 2001 in Los Angeles, California. The union brought together Chris Cornell, the voice of Soundgarden, with the instrumental core of Rage Against the Machine: Tom Morello on guitar, Tim Commerford on bass, and Brad Wilk on drums. Producer Rick Rubin played a key role by suggesting the collaboration, even showing the members of Rage Against the Machine Soundgarden's song Slaves & Bulldozers to illustrate Cornell's talent. The album, released under the Epic Records and Interscope Records labels, received triple platinum certification in the United States and spawned singles such as Cochise and Like a Stone, the latter nominated for a Grammy Awards.
