The story behind
Rock, according to DoReSol
When Charly García broke away from Sui Generis, he sought a different sonic direction, moving away from youthful themes to explore more complex compositions and lyrics with greater depth. This creative impulse materialized in 1976 with the first album by La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros, a project that ventured into progressive rock. The production of this album was remarkably ambitious for its time, becoming one of the most expensive within the Argentine rock scene. The visual identity of the album was also meticulously crafted: the cover was conceived by Juan Oreste Gatti, a regular collaborator in album art, and featured an original comic strip by cartoonist Crist, who presented the band as "a progressive bird".
The album, released under the Talent Microfón label, represented a leap towards more elaborate experimentation in García's music. The intention was clear: to chart a musical path that was already glimpsed in the later stages of Sui Generis, but taking it to a new level of complexity and artistic expression. The cover, with its distinctive art, sought to reflect this pursuit of a sound and aesthetic that broke with the established.
