The story behind
Río Babel, according to DoReSol
When Gustavo Cerati embarked on the creation of Bocanada, his second solo work after the end of Soda Stereo, he already had prior experience with his first album, Amor amarillo, released in 1993. This new project, launched in 1999 under the BMG Ariola label, stands out for its strong influence of electronic music. The gestation process of Bocanada took place at a time when Cerati was exploring more personal sounds, away from the group dynamic of Soda Stereo, whose last album, Sueño Stereo, had been released in 1995. The song Río Babel, with a duration of 4:44, is part of this album that specialized critics recognized.
The music of Río Babel is the work of Gustavo Cerati himself. This track is part of Bocanada, an album that Cerati himself considered his "first solo album" in terms of conception and production, and which is characterized by the exploration of electronic textures. The album was released in 1999, after the dissolution of Soda Stereo in 1995 and the launch of Amor amarillo in 1993. The production of Bocanada, and consequently of Río Babel, focuses on sound experimentation, distancing itself from the conventions of pop music at the time.
