The story behind
Bocanada, according to DoReSol
When you immerse yourself in Bocanada, the title track of Gustavo Cerati's second solo album, you encounter an atmosphere that speaks of fading feelings and mutual forgetting. The lyrics suggest how, even in a relationship, memories and everything that was once important can dilute over time for both parties.
This song, which is part of the album Bocanada released in 1999, has a sonic particularity: it incorporates a fragment of "Eruption" by the group Focus. Cerati composed this piece along with Eduardo Chaijale and Thijs van Leer, and it was included in the compilation album Cerati Infinito. The album Bocanada, released on June 28, 1999, under the BMG Ariola label, marked a stage of sonic exploration for Cerati after the dissolution of Soda Stereo, exploring influences from electronic music. His first solo work, Amor amarillo, had appeared in 1993, at a time when Soda Stereo was going through internal difficulties that would culminate with their last album, Sueño Stereo, in 1995.
