The story behind
The song Regarde‐moi, with its 3:56 duration, presents us with a facet of the artist that was built throughout a career marked by important milestones. Born as Céline Marie Claudette Dion in 1968 in Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada, her trajectory led her to global recognition. Already in the 1980s, her talent was noticed when she won music competitions such as the Yamaha Popular Song Festival in 1982 and the Eurovision Song Contest in 1988.
Her path to fame, especially in the francophone market, was consolidated thanks to the vision of her manager and future husband, René Angélil, who bet heavily on her first album. In 1990, the release of Unison marked a turning point, being her first English-language production that positioned her as an emerging figure in the North American pop scene and other English-speaking territories. Throughout the 80s, she had already signed with CBS Records in Canada, and in the following decade, together with Angélil, her fame skyrocketed worldwide after her time at Epic Records, with a series of albums in English and French that consecrated her as one of the most successful pop artists. In 1999, at the height of her career, she decided to take a break to focus on her family and accompany her husband, who was facing an illness. Two years later, she returned to music with a concert contract that would lay the groundwork for her comeback.
