Bachata Rosa was recognized with a Grammy Award for Best Latin Tropical Album, in addition to two Lo Nuestro Awards for Tropical Album of the Year and Tropical Group of the Year. Seven singles were released from this album, four of which managed to rank among the top ten positions on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. The album debuted directly at number one on the Billboard Tropical Albums chart. The music of Juan Luis Guerra, born in Santo Domingo, is characterized by fusing rhythms such as merengue, jazz, bolero, and salsa with Afro-Antillean influences, creating a distinctive style that has resonated beyond his country. Although he is associated with bachata, he reinterprets it by mixing it with bolero and adding greater melodic richness. His versatility allows him to incorporate other genres such as ballads and even gospel.
