This track was the first single from the album *Bachata Rosa*, which came out in 1990. The recording was made for the label Karen Records. The full album, released on December 11, 1990, was fundamental in bringing bachata to a wider audience, both in the Dominican Republic and internationally. In fact, a Portuguese version, titled *Romance Rosa*, was released in 1992 and achieved gold status in Brazil. The impact of *Bachata Rosa* was such that it received a Grammy Award for Best Latin Tropical Album, in addition to two Lo Nuestro Awards. Seven singles were released from this album, and four of them managed to place among the top ten on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart.
