The story behind
The song Quien la vio llorar, with its duration of 3 minutes and 6 seconds, emerges from a key moment in Don Omar's career. This track is part of his debut album, The Last Don, released in 2003. The production of this album, which included the participation of figures such as Daddy Yankee, Glory, Héctor “El Bambino”, and Trébol Clan, was fundamental in bringing reggaeton to international audiences. In fact, the album The Last Don itself is pointed out by critics as one of the genre's first works to achieve significant penetration outside of Latin America.
This record work was released under the V.I. Music label and distributed by Universal Music Group. Later, in 2006, a reissue was released under The Gold Series line through Machete Music, coinciding with the special edition of another of his albums, King of Kings, titled Armageddon Edition. The work of producers such as Luny Tunes and Eliel, who is also the specific producer of Quien la vio llorar, was essential in defining the sound that would catapult Don Omar, whose real name is William Omar Landrón Rivera, born in Villa Palmeras, Puerto Rico. He, along with other artists, played an important role in the diffusion of reggaeton in the 2000s.
