The story behind
Intro, according to DoReSol
This track, Intro, serves as the gateway to a sonic universe that defined an era. Beyond being a simple introduction, it lays the groundwork for what is to come on the album The Last Don. The production, handled by Luny Tunes, already anticipates the energy and style that would characterize much of early 2000s reggaeton, with a rhythm that invites movement and an atmosphere that prepares the listener for what is yet to be discovered. Its duration, 2 minutes and 39 seconds, is just enough time to capture attention and leave one wanting more.
The release of The Last Don in 2003, under the V.I. Music label and distributed by Universal Music Group, marked a milestone. This work, which included collaborations from artists such as Daddy Yankee, Glory, Héctor “El Bambino”, Trébol Clan, and Gallego, became one of the first reggaeton albums to achieve significant international projection, according to Jason Birchmeier of AllMusic, who awarded it 4 out of 5 stars. A reissue under The Gold Series appeared in 2006, distributed by Machete Music. William Omar Landrón Rivera, known as Don Omar, born in 1978 in Villa Palmeras, Puerto Rico, was a key figure, along with Daddy Yankee and Tego Calderón, in the expansion of the genre throughout Latin America and other Spanish-speaking countries during the 2000s.
