William Omar Landrón Rivera, known as Don Omar, born in 1978 in Villa Palmeras, Puerto Rico, was a key figure, along with Daddy Yankee and Tego Calderón, in the expansion of the genre throughout Latin America and other Spanish-speaking countries during the 2000s.
