The story behind
Puto, according to DoReSol
The song Puto, born in 1997, burst onto the music scene with unusual force. Its music, which runs for 2 minutes and 7 seconds, was conceived by Tito. What makes it stand out is its direct and straightforward approach to addressing social issues, emulating the intensity of bands like Rage Against the Machine. The Mexican band Molotov included it on their debut album, ¿Dónde jugarán las niñas?, a work characterized by its critical lyrics towards Mexico's political system and for touching on issues considered taboo.
The production of Puto, like the rest of the album, was handled by Gustavo Santaolalla and Aníbal Kerpel. This album, released in 1997, resonated not only for its content but also generated debate. In 1998, new facets of the song were explored with the release of remixes that made up the album Molomix. Later, in 2020, the band presented an adaptation titled Juntos, seeking to send a message of unity in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. The following year, Georgel released his own version, No Putx, featuring Tito Fuentes from Molotov, to condemn violence and discrimination against the LGBT community.
