The story behind
Pretty Maids All in a Row, according to DoReSol
The song *Pretty Maids All in a Row* was recorded during the sessions for the album Hotel California, a work that was released on December 8, 1976. This record marked a turning point for the American band, as it was the first to feature the participation of guitarist Joe Walsh, who had taken the place of Bernie Leadon. Furthermore, it was the last album on which the voice and bass of Randy Meisner would be heard. The recording process took place between March and October 1976, at Criteria and Record Plant studios, under the production of Bill Szymczyk. The sound engineering was handled by Allan Blazek, Bruce Hensal, Ed Mashal, and Szymczyk himself, who also took care of the mixing. The iconic album cover is a photograph of the Beverly Hills Hotel, captured by David Alexander.
The band Eagles, formed in 1971 in Los Angeles, California, journeyed from its beginnings through a fusion of country and bluegrass instrumentation with the harmonies of Californian surfer rock. Their early compositions were characterized by emotive ballads with a country and pop rock tinge, addressing themes of life on the road, relationships, and the search for direction. In later works, the group evolved, leaving behind bluegrass instrumentation to embrace a decidedly more rocking sound. The album Hotel California, in particular, became a success with both critics and the public, reaching the top of the popularity charts.
