The story behind
Piel de consumo, according to DoReSol
The song Piel de consumo, with a duration of 3 minutes and 15 seconds, is from the third album by Ricardo Arjona, titled Del otro lado del sol, released in September 1991. Although this album did not achieve great notoriety at the time, many of its compositions were later revisited and re-recorded in other works by the singer-songwriter. It is interesting to note how songs like Piel de consumo, along with Gitano urbano and Que voy a hacer conmigo, appeared in compilations with other artists, but in versions that were quite different from the original recording of this album.
Ricardo Arjona Morales, born in Jocotenango, Guatemala, in 1964, is an artist whose career spans from ballads to Latin pop, including rock and more recent fusions. His lyrical style, known for addressing social and everyday themes, is manifested in songs that explore everything from love to issues such as immigration or religion. As of 2011, his discography included thirteen studio albums, one live album, and several compilations. His impact on the market is reflected in the fact that four of his albums reached the top spot on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart in the United States, and ten did the same in Argentina.
