The story behind

The song Piangerai per me, which translates to "You will cry for me," has a duration of 4 minutes and 11 seconds. This musical piece is part of the self-titled debut album by Spanish singer-songwriter Enrique Iglesias. The album, originally released in Spanish on November 21, 1995, by Fonovisa Records, had its Italian version published on September 3, 1996. Behind the production of this work is the Spanish composer and music producer Rafael Pérez Botija.

This first album by Enrique Iglesias not only marked the beginning of his career but also achieved significant recognition by winning a Grammy Award in the category of Best Latin Pop Album during the 39th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony, held on February 26, 1997. The commercial impact of the album was notable; in Portugal, it reached gold certification in just five weeks, and globally, it is estimated to have sold over 5 million copies. In the United States, the album received platinum certification from the RIAA on November 18, 1996. Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler, known artistically as Enrique Iglesias, was born in Madrid on May 8, 1975, and is the son of Julio Iglesias. His musical career took off in 1995 after signing with Fonovisa, a Mexican record label owned by Televisa, which was key to boosting his initial career in Spanish-speaking markets and among the Latino community in the United States. Subsequently, in 1999, he made the leap to the English-speaking market by signing with Interscope, and also joined Universal Music Latino, part of Universal Music, for his Spanish releases. In 2010, his path led him to sign with Universal Republic. Throughout his career, Iglesias has sold over 60 million albums and 40 million songs in both languages, establishing himself as one of the best-selling artists globally. His album Euphoria, for example, topped sales in Spain, Mexico, and other countries during its first two weeks, selling over one million copies and 12 million singles, in addition to appearing in the Top 10 of international charts. The artist has been one of the most awarded, accumulating distinctions such as a Grammy, a Latin Grammy, 18 Billboard Awards, 26 Latin Billboard Awards, 7 World Music Awards, 5 American Music Awards, 15 Lo Nuestro Awards, 16 ASCAP Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, and 2 Premios 40.
