The story behind
When Enrique Iglesias released his first self-titled album in 1995, the song Corri vai da lui (Falta tanto amor), with its 3:57 runtime, became one of the key tracks. This album, which was released first in Spanish on November 21, 1995, and then in Italian on September 3, 1996, was produced by the renowned Spanish composer and producer Rafael Pérez Botija. The production was tasked with shaping a sound that would resonate, and indeed, this work earned him a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album at the 1997 ceremony.
The career of Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler, born in Madrid in 1975, began to take shape in 1995 after signing with Fonovisa Records, a label of the Mexican company Televisa. This initial agreement was fundamental to boosting his career in the Spanish-speaking market and among the Latino community in the United States. The impact of his music was quickly felt; the album achieved gold certification in Portugal in just five weeks and, globally, sold over 5 million copies. In the United States, by November 18, 1996, it had already reached platinum status. Subsequently, in 1999, his career took a turn when he signed with Interscope for the English-speaking market, and later, with Universal Music Latino and Universal Republic.
