The story behind
Soda Stereo wrote Paseando por Roma as the last single from their album Sueño Stereo, which was their last and most successful work. The song has a base of guitar, bass and drums, with a drum fill at the beginning. Later in, there is an ensemble of winds that reminds one of the arrangements of Got to Get You into My Life by The Beatles. There is also a synthesizer with an analog sound. The band took influence from British music, something they had never done before.
The song was played in several tours, including the last one by Soda Stereo. In the CD and DVD of El último concierto, Paseando por Roma appears, but the audio is not from the concert at River Plate stadium in 1997. Instead, it is from a concert in Chile. The Chilean audio was used in the DVD along with the images from the concert in Buenos Aires. In the video, Cerati only sings the last syllable of the phrase "Esta noche, soy un simulcop", because the audio is from the concert in Chile, where he sang "Esta noche, soy un robocop".
