The story behind
Ordinary Morning, according to DoReSol
Ordinary Morning sounds like a sunrise on a backroad in Louisiana, with that relaxed rock vibe that only Sheryl Crow knows how to blend. It's not a song that hits you with an epic riff or lyrics demanding a dictionary, but it has something that makes it sticky: that acoustic guitar swaying over a calm rhythm, as if time itself had slowed down to listen to the crunch of leaves underfoot. Tchad Blake's mix gives it a special glow, like morning sunlight filtering through the trees while the bass and drums keep the pulse steady and unhurried. There's no rush here, just the feeling that every note is exactly where it needs to be.The track was born in the Kingsway Studios of New Orleans, where Crow locked herself away to record her second solo album.
Unlike her debut, Tuesday Night Music Club, where songwriting was a collective effort, this time she took charge almost single-handedly: she wrote nearly all the songs alone or with just one collaborator, and even produced the record herself. Released in September 1996, the album became a massive hit, earning triple platinum certifications in the U.S. and the U.K. Ordinary Morning isn't the most famous track on the record, but it's one of those songs you hum without realizing it, as if it had always been there.
