The story behind
Oración, according to DoReSol
The song Oración by Héroes del Silencio, with a duration of 4:23, is taken from Senderos de Traición, the Spanish band's second studio work. This album was conceived in the Kirios studios in Madrid, under the supervision of Phil Manzanera as producer for Sound & Management of Zurich. The final mixes were carried out at Metropolis Studios in London, with Keith Bessey in charge of sound engineering. The sound of Senderos de Traición is described as introspective, fusing elements of gothic rock, pop, and hard rock, and echoes of bands like The Cult and The Mission are perceived. Despite the initial success of their debut with El mar no cesa in 1988, the group sought a sound that would better capture their live energy, something they felt they had not fully achieved on their first record.
Héroes del Silencio, originally from Zaragoza, formed in the mid-80s with Juan Valdivia on lead guitar and Enrique Bunbury on vocals and rhythm guitar, joined by Joaquín Cardiel on bass and Pedro Andreu on drums. Their musical proposal was characterized by double-meaning and profound lyrics, intricate arpeggios, and a powerful rhythm section. The band explored literary influences from authors such as William Blake and Charles Baudelaire, and musical influences from groups like Led Zeppelin and The Cult. After a decade of intense activity, which included over a thousand concerts and record sales in more than thirty-seven countries, the group disbanded in 1996. In 2007, commemorating their early recordings, they returned for a series of concerts titled Héroes del Silencio Tour 2007, after which they separated definitively.
