The story behind
The song Nos siguen pegando abajo (Pecado mortal), with its energy that invites movement, carries a story that goes beyond music. It was written by Charly García and is included in his second solo album, Clics modernos, released in 1983. What's interesting is that, although it became a radio hit in several Latin American countries, its lyrics have a connection to the last civic-military dictatorship that Argentina experienced between 1976 and 1983. Originally, García intended to call it Pecado mortal, but SADAIC proposed another name. In the end, on the records, the title became Nos Siguen Pegando Abajo (Pecado Mortal). In this recording, he also had the participation of Pedro Aznar on bass and backing vocals.
The album Clics modernos, also known as Modern Clix, went on sale on November 5, 1983. On it, Charly García, who had already worked with Pedro Aznar in Serú Girán between 1978 and 1981, captured ideas that for some represent the best of his career and a high point of Argentine rock. The album addresses the political situation in Argentina at that time with a style that mixes sarcasm and humor. It was a key work in defining the sound of Argentine rock in the 1980s. The duration of this musical piece is 3:28. The song was reinterpreted by the Spanish musician Miguel Ríos on his album La encrucijada, released in 1984.
