The story behind
Nobody Loves Me Like You Do, according to DoReSol
The song *Nobody Loves Me Like You Do* has an interesting history that dates back to its appearance on the soap opera *As the World Turns*. It was there that James Dunne, one of its composers, first performed it alongside Tonya Pinkins. Shortly after, in August 1984, a duet version by Jermaine Jackson with a then-unknown Whitney Houston saw the light, also premiering on the same series. In parallel, Anne Murray recorded her own version with singer-songwriter Dave Loggins, releasing it as a country single in September of that same year. Murray and Loggins' rendition was notably successful, reaching the number one spot on the country charts on December 15, 1984, marking Murray's ninth number one in that genre in the United States and also reaching the Top 10 of the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. For Loggins, it was his only hit on the country charts. In live performances, Murray used to sing this song as a duet with Billie Hughes, and later, in 2007, a new version appeared on her album *Anne Murray Duets: Friends & Legends*, this time accompanied by her daughter, Dawn Langstroth.
The version by Jermaine Jackson and Whitney Houston was included on her debut album, titled *Whitney Houston*, released in 1985. This album, which began with a slower sales pace, experienced a significant boost in 1986 thanks to three singles that reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100: *Saving All My Love for You*, *How Will I Know*, and *Greatest Love of All*. Houston's debut album became the most successful of her career, with sales exceeding 30 million copies. The production of the Jackson and Houston version was handled by Jermaine Jackson, with Jim Ed Norman as producer and Bill Bottrell and Michael O’Reilly on mixing. The track, with an approximate duration of 3:51, was released under the Capitol Records label.
