The story behind

The song No va más sounds like a musical release where Calamaro blends his experience in rock bands with that melancholic touch that always defined him. The track starts with a guitar riff that repeats with an almost hypnotic cadence, yet without falling into predictability. There's something in the structure that makes you feel the song progresses at a leisurely pace, as if each note were calculated to keep the listener focused on the message. Its 3:47 duration gives just enough space to develop that atmosphere between rawness and reflection, without unnecessary lengthening.

Calamaro recorded No va más after years of moving between musical projects in Uruguay. Before that, he had already played in groups like Raíces —where he joined as a keyboardist recommended by Sergio Makaroff— and later in Chorizo Colorado Blues Band alongside Augusto Gringui Herrera. He also went through bands that imitated The Platters, until he eventually leaned toward rock and formed Elmer's Band with Gringui and Eduardo Cano. But before establishing himself as a solo artist, Calamaro worked as a session musician for artists like Los Hermanos Makaroff and Julián Petrina. He even became part of The Morgan, a local band featuring Charly Amato, Sandra Baylac, and Gustavo Cerati, among others. Later, in Stress —alongside Sandra Baylac, Pablo Guadalupe, Carlos Amato, and Zeta Bosio— he replaced Alejandro O'Donell. That group ended up being the seed of Los Estereotipos, and when Cerati joined, the project evolved into Proyecto Erekto. No va más seems to emerge from this crossroads, where Calamaro had already spent years experimenting with sounds and styles before finding his own voice.
