The story behind

The song *Minha galera* is taken from Manu Chao's first solo album, titled Clandestino, released in 1998. What's interesting about this work is that a large part was recorded by the musician himself in various places around the world, using a laptop, which he referred to as "Estudio Clandestino" (Clandestine Studio). This way of working gave the album a particular atmosphere, almost as if it were made on the fly, capturing sounds and moments from his travels. The album was even recognized by major publications, appearing on lists of the best French albums and in collections of "albums you must hear before you die".

Manu Chao, whose full name is José Manuel Arturo Tomás Chao Ortega, was born in Paris in 1961, with Spanish roots. His music is a melting pot of languages and styles, singing in French, Spanish, English, Portuguese, and other languages. Before his solo career, he was part of bands like Hot Pants and Los Carayos, and co-founded Mano Negra in 1987, a group that achieved great popularity in Europe and Latin America. After the separation of Mano Negra in 1995, Chao began his path as a solo artist, usually accompanied by his band Radio Bemba. His lyrics often address social and political themes, influenced by his own family history of migration and by his convictions, reflecting a concern for freedom and life in cities.
