The story behind
Mágico, according to DoReSol
The magic of Mágico isn’t in its length — those three minutes and seventeen seconds — but in how Marina Sena makes time vanish. The song doesn’t try to fill space with layers of sound; instead, it breathes in every note, as if each chord were a sigh expanding without haste. The bass traces clean lines, almost melancholic, while the artist’s voice moves between whispers and controlled explosions, crafting a tension that needs no shouting to be powerful. What stands out most is how the silence between phrases isn’t a void but an essential part of the melody: a play of absences that makes every word resonate louder. The album Coisas Naturais, released in March 2025, arrived after a recording process Marina herself described as “a journey without a map.” The song Mágico was one of the first to take shape in that record, but its final recording wasn’t immediate: it underwent subtle mix adjustments where the production team chose to keep the empty spaces that, at first, might have sounded like mistakes.
Yet those gaps ended up being the song’s signature. The track also featured in the album’s promotion, though not as the main single, and ended up standing out for its ability to connect with audiences without relying on repeated formulas. It’s no coincidence that, months later, the album was nominated for a Latin Grammy in the Best Portuguese Language Pop Album category, while Ouro de Tolo — another track from the same work — received another nomination for Best Song. Mágico wasn’t trying to steal the spotlight, but there it was, magnetizing anyone who listened.
