The story behind

When you immerse yourself in the music of Lionel Richie, you come across a piece like Love Will Find a Way, which, although its title might suggest a ballad, has a duration of 6:16. It's a track that invites exploration into the roots of his sound, a path that began in Alabama, United States. There, after finishing high school and briefly moving to Illinois, Richie returned to his hometown thanks to a tennis scholarship at Tuskegee Institute. It was in that environment where his musical training in R&B took shape.

The turning point came in 1968, when he joined The Commodores as lead vocalist and saxophonist. After signing with Atlantic Records and then with Motown Records, the band established itself as one of the most recognized soul groups of the seventies in the United States. Richie was the creative force behind many of their hits, composing and singing romantic and accessible songs like Three Times A Lady or Still. His talent for lyrics and his distinctive voice set him apart, leading him to compose for other artists, such as the song Lady for Kenny Rogers, which reached number one in 1980. A year later, in 1981, Richie also produced Kenny Rogers' album Share Your Love and collaborated with Diana Ross on the theme song for the film Endless Love, a song that resonated on the charts in both the United Kingdom and the United States. These achievements were a prelude to his decision to leave The Commodores in 1982 to embark on his solo career.
