The story behind
Can’t Slow Down, according to DoReSol
The energy of Can’t Slow Down is felt from the first moment, a piece that invites you to let go. Its duration, 4:44, is perfect for immersing yourself in its atmosphere. What's interesting about this song is how it captures that feeling of unstoppable progress, almost as if time were accelerating and one could only keep up. Lionel Richie, born in Alabama in 1949, was already forging his musical path. After finishing high school, he returned to his hometown to study at Tuskegee Institute, where he immersed himself in R&B. In 1968, he joined The Commodores as a vocalist and saxophonist. With this band, which became very popular in the seventies, Richie was responsible for many of their best-known ballads, such as Three Times A Lady and Still.
By the end of that decade, his talent for songwriting and his voice made him stand out enormously. In fact, he wrote Lady for Kenny Rogers, a song that reached number one in 1980. The following year, he produced the album Share Your Love for Rogers and collaborated with Diana Ross on Endless Love, a hit that resonated in both the United States and the United Kingdom. It was this momentum that led him to start his solo career in 1982.
