The story behind
Light It Up, according to DoReSol
The energy of *Light It Up* unfolds with a rhythmic base that invites movement, a style that could be placed between moombahton and dancehall, with touches of electronic dance music. This song, which is part of Major Lazer's third studio album, Peace Is the Mission, was recorded in different stages. The vocal parts by singer Nyla were registered in 2014, while the remixed version, to which the vocals of artist Fuse ODG were added, was completed in 2015. The PYRMDZ studio in Miami was one of the places where this track was worked on.
The version featuring Fuse ODG was released as the album's third single on November 5, 2015. This remix gave Nyla and ODG their biggest hit to date, reaching significant positions on international charts, including Europe and Oceania. On the Billboard Hot 100, the song debuted at number 98 and climbed to number 73, marking the first appearance of both artists on that chart. Additionally, in March 2016, an Italian version was shared with the participation of singer Baby K. The music of *Light It Up* was also used for a short film created by Method Studios, which opened the 2016 AICP Show. This short, which featured dance avatars generated by procedural art, accumulated over 100 million online views, boosting the downloads and visibility of the song and its artists.
