The story behind
The album Lejanía is the twenty-seventh studio work by the Chilean group Inti-Illimani, released to the public on July 14, 1998. The recording of this album took place in September of the previous year and was distributed by the labels Xenophile and Green Linnet. It is worth noting that this album has not been released in Chile or in Italy, a country that was home to the band during their exile.
This album is characterized by its strong influence of Andean music, revisiting elements from the works the band produced in the nineteen seventies, such as the albums Canto de pueblos andinos, Canto de pueblos andinos (Inti-Illimani 3) and Canto de pueblos andinos, vol. 2. The song «Sikuriadas», which originally formed part of the second of these albums, was re-recorded for Lejanía. Likewise, «Quiaqueñita» is a new version of the song that appeared on the 1970 album Inti-Illimani.
The track that opens the album, «Takoma», has been presented in some live recordings under the title «Takakoma». This song was recorded again for the album Esencial in 2006.
As for its presence on digital platforms, Lejanía has 2 listeners and 3 plays on Last.fm.
