The story behind
La estaca, according to DoReSol
When you dive into La estaca, you encounter a piece that, in just two minutes and twenty-one seconds, condenses a particular energy. It’s not a song that lingers; instead, it goes straight to the point, leaving a sonic mark that invites you to pay attention to the details. There’s something in its structure that makes you want to dissect it note by note.
This song is part of El Dorado, the second studio album by Aterciopelados, which was released on October 24, 1995. It was recorded at Audiovisión Studios in Bogotá, with production by Federico López. The album, in general, became a turning point for the band, opening doors for them internationally and solidifying their sound. In fact, American magazine Al Borde included it in its list of the 250 most important rock albums in Spanish, and it was one of the three works by Aterciopelados to appear there.
