The story behind
Jacqueline, according to DoReSol
The song Jacqueline opens Franz Ferdinand's debut album with an atmosphere that contrasts with the energy to come. It begins with an acoustic introduction that creates a sense of introspection, almost somber, before exploding into a vibrant and unbridled celebration. This opening already suggests a broader and more diverse sonic palette than might have been expected from the band up to that point, exploring more pronounced textures and moods.
This album, titled Franz Ferdinand, was recorded in 2003 at Gula Studios in Malmö, Sweden, with production by Tore Johansson, who was responsible for most of the tracks. Two of the songs were produced by the band themselves. The album was released on February 9, 2004, by Domino Recording Company, and quickly climbed to third place on the UK albums chart in February 2004. Singles from this work reached the top positions, such as Take Me Out and The Dark of the Matinée, which made it into the top ten, and Michael, which ranked among the twenty most popular. The full album received the Mercury Prize in 2004 and was nominated for Best Alternative Album at the Grammy Awards.
