The story behind
J’irai où tu iras, according to DoReSol
The song “J’irai où tu iras,” which is 3:26 long, is part of the musical journey of Céline Dion, an artist who forged her own path from a very young age. Born in Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada, in 1968 as Céline Marie Claudette Dion, her talent began to shine in the 1980s. In 1982, her participation in the Yamaha Pop Song Festival earned her recognition, and in 1988, her victory at the Eurovision Song Contest put her on the international map. Her manager, René Angélil—who would later become her husband—played a key role by mortgaging his own home to finance the singer’s first album, launching her as a rising star in the French-speaking music scene.
During the early 1980s, Céline Dion released several albums before signing her first contract with CBS Records in Canada in 1986. A decisive step in her career in the English-speaking world came in 1990 with the release of *Unison*, her first English-language album, which established her as a pop artist with great potential in North America and other regions. The 1990s marked her rise to global fame, which was solidified after she signed with Epic Records and released a series of albums in both English and French. In 1999, at the height of her success, Céline Dion decided to take a temporary break from performing to devote herself to her family, as her husband, Angélil, had been diagnosed with cancer. Two years later, she returned to the world of pop music with a contract for a series of concerts.
