The story behind
I Wanna Be Yours, according to DoReSol
The essence of *I Wanna Be Yours* lies in its poetic origin, an adaptation of a text by the English John Cooper Clarke. This poet, who gained notoriety in the punk scene of the late 70s, has been a recurring source of inspiration for Alex Turner, the vocalist and lyricist of Arctic Monkeys. In fact, Clarke's poem *Out of Control Fairground* had already appeared in the artwork of a previous band single, *Fluorescent Adolescent*. The duration of this piece is 3:04.
This track is included in the fifth studio album by Arctic Monkeys, titled AM, released on September 6, 2013, through Domino Recording Company. The album's production was handled by James Ford, a regular collaborator of the band, and co-produced by Ross Orton. The recording sessions took place at Sage & Sound Recording in Los Angeles and at Rancho De La Luna, in Joshua Tree, California. The album explored a variety of genres, from psychedelic rock and blues to R&B and funk, marking an foray into hip hop-influenced sounds. For the recording of AM, the band featured the participation of musicians such as Josh Homme, Bill Ryder-Jones, and Pete Thomas. The final mix of the record was done by Tchad Blake.
