The story behind

One For The Road, according to DoReSol

When Alex Turner wrote One For The Road, the central idea revolved around that last drink one has before embarking on a journey, a kind of liquid farewell to the familiar. It's an image that resonates with the idea of leaving someone behind, and the title itself evokes that custom which has gradually faded over time due to traffic regulations. The song, which lasts 3 minutes and 29 seconds, was released as the fourth single from the album AM, published on September 6, 2013.

The recording of AM took place in two different studios: Sage & Sound Recording in Los Angeles and Rancho De La Luna in Joshua Tree, California. The album was produced by James Ford, a regular collaborator of the band, and co-produced by Ross Orton. For this work, Arctic Monkeys drew inspiration from a mix of genres that included psychedelic rock, blues rock, hard rock, heavy metal, desert rock, R&B, funk, and soul, marking a notable foray into a sound with hip hop influences. AM also featured guest musicians such as Josh Homme, Bill Ryder-Jones, and Pete Thomas.
