The story behind
When you dive into I Like How It Feels, you encounter an energy that invites you to move. The song, released in 2011, has that dance-pop and electro house spark that makes it instantly catchy. What's interesting is that, although it was originally intended for a reissue of the album Euphoria, it ended up being part of the international deluxe edition of his tenth record, Sex and Love. It was a track that leaked online before its official release, and its video, directed by Enrique Iglesias himself, quickly surpassed 38 million views.
The production of I Like How It Feels was handled by RedOne, a regular collaborator of Enrique Iglesias, who had previously worked with him on hits like Takin' Back My Love and I Like It. On this occasion, RedOne joined forces with Alex Papaconstantinou and Alex P in production. The songwriting involved Enrique Iglesias alongside RedOne, Pitbull, Adam Baptiste, Björn Djupström, and Alex Papaconstantinou. The song had its digital release in Australia and some countries in Europe on September 23, 2011, reaching the United States and Canada on October 4 of the same year. Despite its good initial reception, by 2020 it was no longer available in most US digital stores.
The track, featuring the collaboration of American rapper Pitbull and Swedish music project The WAV.s, performed well on the charts. It debuted at number 97 on the Canadian Hot 100, marking Enrique Iglesias's eighth entry on that list, and later reached number 11. It also appeared on Australia's ARIA charts, peaking at number 26, and on New Zealand's RIANZ chart, where it reached number 19. On the United States' Billboard Hot 100, it debuted at number 76 but dropped off the chart the following week due to low sales and minimal radio airplay. However, after a performance at the 2011 American Music Awards, the song re-entered the chart and reached number 74. On the US Pop Songs chart, it climbed to number 39. The biggest chart achievement was topping the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs, becoming Enrique Iglesias's tenth number 1 in that category and positioning him among the top 10 most important Dance/Club artists of all time.
