The story behind
Hechizo, according to DoReSol
The song *Hechizo* by Héroes del Silencio comes from *Senderos de Traición*, their second album, a work recorded at the Kirios studios in Madrid. The production was handled by Phil Manzanera, who also managed the sound and mixes alongside Keith Bessey at Metropolis Studios in London. Released at a time when gothic rock, pop, and hard rock were blending, this album aimed to better capture the band’s live energy, something they felt they hadn’t fully achieved with their debut.
The group, originally from Zaragoza and formed in the mid-1980s by Juan Valdivia and Enrique Bunbury, along with Joaquín Cardiel and Pedro Andreu, explored a more introspective sound in *Senderos de Traición*. The lyrics, often ambiguous and with literary references to authors like William Blake and Charles Baudelaire, were supported by a solid rhythmic foundation and distinctive arpeggios. The band achieved notable success not only in Spain and Latin America but also in countries such as Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, France, and Italy.
