The story behind

"Hablas de mí" is one of those songs that doesn't sound like the rest of the album. It's neither a classic bolero nor a traditional danzón, but rather a track that moves between Latin pop and a more intimate rhythm, as if it were telling a story in a whisper. The main melody has a playful feel that contrasts with the lyrics, which seem to reflect that mix of nostalgia and pride that Gloria Estefan always carries with her when she talks about her roots. What stands out most is how the musical arrangement—with its strings and percussion—manages to convey that feeling of being in a café in Havana, but with the sparkle of Miami in the background.

They recorded it at Crescent Moon Studios in Miami with a team of engineers who were already well-versed in the sound they were seeking: Charles Dye, Patrice Wilkison Levinsohn, Frank Miret, Eric Schilling, and Ron Taylor. The result was an entire album that became a bridge between two worlds, and “Hablas de mí” ended up being one of those songs that, while not the most commercial, remained etched in the memory of those who heard it. The album *Mi Tierra* not only reached number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart in 1993 but remained there for 58 weeks—a feat no one had ever achieved before. And although it wasn’t the most heavily promoted single, its presence on the album gave it special significance, as if it were the musical testament to everything Gloria carried within her.
