This song, Gimme tha Power, has a raw energy that is perceived from the first moment. Its strength lies not only in the music, but also in the direct and straightforward message that aims at political criticism. Even though it wasn't played on every radio station, it became a fundamental song for understanding Molotov. The lyrics dared to directly point to figures of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, which at that time held power in Mexico, making it not only emblematic but also a subject of controversy. The impact of its message was such that, years later, in 2012, Olallo Rubio chose it as the title for a documentary about the band.

The recording of Gimme tha Power took place in a very particular production context. It was part of ¿Dónde jugarán las niñas?, Molotov's first studio album, released in July 1997 by Universal Music. The production was handled by Gustavo Santaolalla and Aníbal Kerpel, who knew how to capture that rebellious essence. The complete album, which went on sale in March 1997 in Mexico and a month later in the rest of the world, was nominated for "Best Latin Alternative Rock Album" at the 1998 Latin Grammy Awards. The music video for Gimme tha Power, directed by Jorge Aguilera, received significant recognition by winning two MTV Video Music Awards in 1998: the International Viewer's Choice Awards for Latin America - North and for Latin America - South. The music of this song, with a duration of 4:11, added to the album's proposal which, like Rage Against the Machine, addressed difficult and critical themes of the Mexican political system.
