The story behind
The first time Feiticeira was heard was in 1965, as part of Maria Bethânia's self-titled debut album. This initial work was released in LP format, first in mono and then, in 1971, it was reissued in stereo under the RCA Camden label. Much later, in 1996, the album had a CD version with remastered sound through Sony BMG. The song itself has a duration of 2 minutes and 39 seconds.
Maria Bethânia, whose full name is Maria Bethânia Vianna Telles Velloso, was born in Santo Amaro, Bahia, in 1946. Her musical journey began in 1964 with a performance at the Opinião concert in Rio de Janeiro. The following year, in 1965, her single Carcará catapulted her to national fame. She comes from a family with a strong artistic streak; she is the sister of fellow singer-songwriters Caetano Veloso and Mabel Velloso, and the aunt of singers Belô Velloso and Jota Velloso. Throughout her career, she has released 50 studio albums and is considered one of Brazil's most prominent artists, with sales exceeding 26 million copies.
