The story behind

The first time we hear *De Manhã* is an invitation to a particular dawn, a piece that lasts just over two minutes but condenses a very unique atmosphere. Its title, which evokes the start of the day, is felt in the delicacy of its structure. It is not a song that shouts, but rather unfolds with an intimacy that brings you closer to the performer. This piece is part of the debut album by Maria Bethânia, originally released in June 1965 in LP format and in mono. Later, in 1971, it had a stereo reissue under a different label, and in 1996 a remastered CD version was presented. The career of Maria Bethânia, born in Santo Amaro, Bahia, began a year earlier, in 1964, with a performance in Rio de Janeiro. By 1965, she had already achieved great resonance throughout the country, partly thanks to another single, *Carcará*. It is interesting to note that she comes from a family with a strong artistic vein, being the sister of other recognized singer-songwriters.
