The story behind
Cazuza wrote "Exagerado" in 1985, as part of his first solo album. The lyrics were made together with Ezequiel Neves, and Leoni took care of the melody. Cazuza called it his most autobiographical song, although he wrote it thinking about Zeca, his friend. Leoni wanted to make a bolero, but didn't know how, so it ended up being a rock and roll inspired by The Who. Some verses were cut, like one that mentioned cocaine, but later they were included again. The music video was shown in the program Fantástico, with Cazuza playing with a computer and some scenes in Rio de Janeiro. The song has been interpreted by several artists over the years, and in 2015 a new version with original vocals and new instruments was released. To celebrate the 40th anniversary, a special edition with Dolby Atmos sound and a documentary was released.
