The story behind
This song doesn’t sound like just any track. The bass kicks in with a groove that sticks in your head from the first measure, but what’s most surprising is how the drums and guitar move in a sway that doesn’t follow conventional rhythm. It’s not just Brazilian rock: there’s something in the structure that makes each repetition of the chorus sound different, as if time itself were stretching without losing energy. The voice of Cazuza enters with that mix of boldness and melancholy that defined him, and the result is a piece that never stays still.
It was recorded at a pivotal moment for him. Cazuza had already left the band Barão Vermelho and was working on his first solo album, a project where he could explore sounds without constraints. The track came out in 1990, the same year he released Vermelho, his debut album, and became one of the most remembered cuts. He wasn’t aiming for perfection: he wanted to convey that urgency only found in songs written from the heart.
