The story behind
Estación, according to DoReSol
When you dive into Estación, you encounter a piece that, in just one minute and thirty-one seconds, condenses a particular atmosphere. The music, by Charly García, is the engine that invites you into that sonic space. It's a track that is part of Vida, the first album by Sui Generis, released in 1972 by Microfón. This album, over time, became a benchmark in Argentine rock. In fact, in 2007, the Argentine edition of Rolling Stone ranked it 66th on its list of the 100 best albums of Argentine rock.
The Sui Generis project was born at the Instituto Social Militar Dr. Dámaso Centeno, influenced by Swinging London and the regulars of La Cueva. What began as an electric band soon transformed into an acoustic duo. It was during a tour of Mar del Plata that Jorge Álvarez signed them to Talent Micr, a key moment that boosted the duo's and particularly Charly García's exposure. Songs like this became integrated into the country's cultural landscape, being common in gatherings and repertoires to this day.
