The story behind
El mendigo en el andén, according to DoReSol
In The Beggar on the Platform, Serú Girán presents a piece that, while not the most extensive, condenses a particular atmosphere. The duration of 3 minutes and 48 seconds invites us to immerse ourselves in its sound without delay. This composition is part of the band's self-titled debut album, released in 1978.
The recording of this album took place in the United States and Brazil, under the production of Billy Bond. Charly García's work on most of the album's compositions marked a significant moment for rock in Argentina. Mixtures of rhythms and styles were explored, including elements of progressive rock and jazz fusion, and synthesizers and orchestral arrangements were experimented with, giving it a distinctive complexity. Over time, this album has been recognized as an influence for later musicians.
