The story behind
Doçura, according to DoReSol
The first time I heard Doçura, I was left with the feeling that Marina Sena had found a rare balance: that mix between a melody that sticks in your head and a rhythm that doesn’t sound formulaic. The song unfolds with a cadence that oscillates between playfulness and intimacy, as if each note were telling something we already know but had never heard quite like this. One detail stands out when listening: the track doesn’t rely on grand arrangements, but on Marina’s voice and a groove that repeats with a naturalness that deceives. The bass and drums carve out a simple yet effective path, as if the goal were to keep the listener focused on the essentials: those lyrics that flow effortlessly and a melody that seems to emerge from a familiar yet renewed place.
The album Coisas Naturais —released in March 2025— is Marina Sena’s third, and Doçura stands out as one of its most direct tracks. The song clocks in at just over two and a half minutes, giving it a fresh air, as if it were designed to be enjoyed anytime without growing tiresome. What’s curious is that, despite its brevity, it conveys a sense of completeness, as if everything it needed to say fit perfectly into that span. The album was nominated for a Latin Grammy in the Best Portuguese-Language Pop Album category, and Doçura was one of the tracks that resonated most with fans even before the album’s release. The single Numa Ilha, launched in November 2024, was the first to announce this project, but Doçura ultimately stood out for its ability to connect without needing grand resources.
