The story behind
The song Disappointment by The Cranberries, which lasts 4:15, was recorded with Julie Gardner and Stephen Street as engineers and producers. This piece is part of the band's second studio album, No Need to Argue, released on October 3, 1994. This record became the band's most commercially successful, with sales exceeding 17 million copies worldwide by 2014. The overall sound of No Need to Argue is perceived as darker and rawer compared to their debut album, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?, released a year earlier.
After two years of touring promoting their first work, the members of The Cranberries, including drummer Fergal Lawler, felt the need to explore a more powerful sound. This was reflected in some songs on the album, where the band opted for a more rocking and heavier approach, incorporating distortion and increasing the overall volume. The band, formed in 1989 in Limerick, Ireland, consisted of Dolores O'Riordan on vocals, Noel Hogan on guitar, Mike Hogan on bass, and Fergal Lawler on drums. Their style, although associated with alternative rock, also fused elements of indie pop, post-punk, Irish folk, and pop rock.
